The Instruments

Most of the plectrum played instruments used by the members of Het CONSORT are of the Roman mandolin type and build by Master luthier Luigi Embergher (February 4, 1856 Arpino - May 12th 1943 Rome) and his successors, Domenico Cerrone and Pasquale Pecoraro. The Mandola’s are build by Embergher and by the Milanese master luthier Lorenzo Lippi, a contemporary luthier who closely works after the examples by Luigi Embergher. The guitars used by the guitarists of the guitar section are of the Classical or Spanis type. The Liuto cantabile was made by Raffaele Calace (Napels, 1863 – Napels, 1934) while the bass, the so-named Chitarrone modern, was built by the Catanian luthier Vincenzo Miroglio around 1910.
